It had taken over an hour for her plane to land. It circled high above Gotham City far away from the pouring rain, the pilot announced. When they finally touched down, it took another fifteen minutes for the plane to reach the correct terminal, thirty for the passengers to be allowed to exit the plane, and thirty-five more for her one bag to finally make it through to baggage claim. Selina's return to Gotham was not off to a good start. Still, she couldn't wait to be back in her old penthouse apartment after such a long flight.

Adjusting her scarf around her neck and a beret over her short, dark hair, she readied her umbrella as she headed out to catch a cab. A violent gust of cold wind whirled down along the sidewalk and her umbrella was ripped from her hand the moment she stepped out of the airport through the sliding doors. Her umbrella twirled three times in the air, then skidded along the wet floor, until it crashed into the back of an unsuspecting gentleman about to step into the backseat of a car.

Selina, having been running after her umbrella, stopped to apologize.

"I'm very sorry about that," she said.

When he turned to face her fully, she forgot all about the rain. Not because it ceased to fall violently, but because it was Bruce standing before her. After all that time away from Gotham, it meant something that his face was the first friendly one she saw, she was sure of it.

He smiled like only he could, warming up her insides despite the cold afternoon. In the past, Bruce had a way of making her think about Gotham's other celebrity, but not this time. He was her sole focus.

After he accepted her apology, he insisted on giving her a ride home.

"I do appreciate it, Bruce, but-"

"Selina," his grin made her catch her breath, "I insist." He took her hand, "Let an old friend help you out."

The drive had been a pleasant one, the offer of dinner even more so. And after all that, Selina was forced to reconsidered; though initially not great, it seemed her return to Gotham was actually off to a pretty good start.
